West Usk Lighthouse B&B and Spa Hotel

West Usk Lighthouse is one of the most unusual hotels in the country and bridges the gap between B&B and spa hotel for those looking for a place to stay in Wales. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1922 but has since been lovingly restored by its owners, including a full restoration of the lamp room.
West Usk Lighthouse The hotel itself features a series of “wedge” shaped rooms which fit the building and are connected via a spiral staircase which is one of the central features of the hotel.

All rooms have en suite facilities however, there are a number of additional options to consider including, the waterbed room and a few rooms with four poster beds.

Is the outdoors more your thing? The hotel also offers guests the chance to stay in a 21ft Mongolian Yurt, rates currently £90 per night based on a couple sharing and there is a £15 a night fee for each additional person. Hire of the Yurt includes breakfast, electricity and free logs for the fire.

Unusually for a B&B West Usk Lighthouse also doubles up as a spa hotel, treatments include an infra-red sauna and a period in the flotation tank, as well as some personalised therapies conducted by Danielle Sheahan including weight loss and detox programs and advanced hypnotherapy. Therapies cost between £48-60, dependent on type and length of the treatment.

Want to add something extra, the hotel also has its own Rolls Royce, the car can be hired to book journeys between the hotel and local restaurants for £30 single or £60 return. Special arrangements can be made for weddings, anniversaries and other occasions, just call ahead.

So if looking for a truly unusual hotel with a slightly eccentric feel and all set located on some of the countries finest coastline this is defiantly a place to look into.
