The Ritz Paris Hotel Review

We booked the Ritz Paris for a special Valentines Day treat this year and the experience did not disappoint. From the outset we booked one of the special Valentines Day packages which included Champagne, chocolate, roses and a free gift on arrival. In addition while we booked the most basic level of room we were pleasantly surprised to find that the check in clerk offered us a free upgrade on registration.

After handing over our luggage which was taken to the room, guests are offered a tour of the hotel including the spa facilities, restaurants and bars and the boutique. We then retired to our room to enjoy the comfortable surroundings and chilled Champagne. Rooms while ornately decorated in the classic French style are also extremely comfortable and almost “homely” in nature. The wall mounted tapestries and use of textiles gives rooms a softer feel than is experienced in some five star hotels.

However, the rooms are only half the story, the real jewel in the crown of a stay at the Ritz Hotel Paris is its spa and swimming facilities. The pool is an ornate Romanesque affair complete with mosaic tiling and a ceiling decorated to reflect the pool scene that the roof covers. If swimming is too much effort, waiters will bring you drinks to the pool side or you might opt to spend time in the spas other facilities such as the steam room or treatment rooms.

Breakfast at the hotel is an event in its own right, tea and coffee is served in old style silverware which is a delight to enjoy in its own right and staff are attentive in keeping drinks toped up. Breakfast options include both a traditional continental breakfast or an “American Breakfast” probably the nearest thing to the Full English but not quite. While breakfast was a pleasure, the atmosphere was a little quite and somewhat formal but then this may be a criticism levelled at many of the five star hotels around the world.

All things considered, the Ritz Hotel Paris made our Valentines Day trip one of the best Valentines Day experiences in a long time. While the hotel offers the guest the very best of everything and a great location, at the same time the hotel manages to keep a homely feel making this the ideal romantic hotel. We will defiantly be back if only to take another dip in the pool!
