Hetland Hall Hotel Review
by Mark Smith
We stayed at Hetland Hall Hotel for a recent wedding of a friend, spending two nights in the hotel including the post ceremony wedding breakfast and entertainments. Staying at the hotel cost £85 per room per night on a B&B basis for a standard room making it equivalent to just £42.50 each for me and my wife.
The hotel experience is one of two halves, on the positive side we could not fault service levels, staff did all they could to make use feel welcome with that genuine level of interest which only comes with a stay in Scotland. Right from the off staff where pleasant and attentive both during our staff and at meal times.
When it comes to the rooms however, the verdict could have been a little better. The problem is that Hetland Hall itself is a beautiful building with charming public areas and a well maintained approach and gardens. As such, this lets the rooms down which are a little tired suffering from dated décor and facilities which are a little dated to say the least. While our room was somewhat disappointing, we did get a sneak view of the bridal suite which appeared much nicer with its four poster bed and bathroom complete with Jacuzzi.
As such, we’d rate this hotel as average, its not a fantastic place to stay however, what the hotel lacks in modernity its staff more than make up for in attentiveness. When one considers what £42.50 per person per night buys in other establishments (not a lot) we might even say the hotel is good value. Verdict, neither a saint nor a sinner, with a little investment this could be a really great place to stay.
