The Cumberland Hotel London: A Luxury West End Hotel and Michelin Star Restaurant.
The Cumberland Hotel London has historically been one of the city’s most innovative hotels, built back in the 1920’s the hotel was the first to have direct dial telephones and the first to have an en suite bathroom in every room. Today the current owners have maintained the level of innovation swopping direct dial telephones for open access WIFI and adding walk in showers and heated bathroom mirrors to the hotels en suite bathrooms.
There are several room options available at the Cumberland Hotel including Guest, Executive and the usual array of suites and family rooms.
All are equipped with the latest of technology including 32” plasma screen TVs and thoroughly modern en suite facilities.
Those staying in an executive room also benefit from access to the hotels exclusive Guoman lounge.
For a totally different experience, consider the hotels very own Jimi Hendrix suite, the room is decorated in the psychedelic mural style of the era and features many artefacts and items of memorabilia including a rare “Flying V” guitar painted in the style of one of Hendrix own.
While the rooms of the hotel are impressive, the hotel may be famed to a greater extent for hosting celebrity chef Gary Rhodes. Here the chef oversees not one but two restaurants in the hotel, Rhodes W1 Restaurant is the hotels flagship one Michelin star restaurant and serves a modern twist on classic French cooking. For something less formal, try Rhodes W1 Brassiere, the Brassiere serves similar food to that found in the main restaurant but in a much more relaxed environment for when comfort is more the order of the day.
As for location, the hotel is a West End classic, stay here if you are looking to enjoy one of the many shows in the theatre district, the hotel is also great for shopping on Oxford Street and is close to other attractions such as Marble Arch and Hyde Park.
